Mayor and Village Board
The Village of Cazenovia Board of Trustees meets on the first Monday of each month at 7pm in the Village Municipal Building, 90 Albany Street.
Kurt Wheeler, Mayor
Kurt Wheeler has lived in the Village of Cazenovia since moving back home in 1996. He grew up in New Woodstock, spent 11 years away to attend college, serve in the Marine Corps, work in Washington, DC and attend graduate school.
Elected Mayor in 2011, he began his service as a trustee in 2005 and was an appointed member of the Cazenovia Advisory Conservation Commission from 1997 to 2005. He has been a commissioned officer in the Marine Corps since 1989 and is currently a history teacher and coach at Cazenovia High School. Kurt is active with Project CAFE, a non-profit corporation serving the youth and families of the Cazenovia area.
A former chairman of the Winter Festival Committee and July 4th Committee, Kurt is also a life member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mayor Wheeler was the former Commissioner of Streets and Sidewalks and Chairman of the Comprehensive Plan Committee and Zoning Revision Committee.

Amy Mann, Deputy Mayor, Trustee
Amy was elected to the Village Board in 2009 and re-elected in 2011, 2013, and 2015. She currently serves as Deputy Mayor, Tree Commissioner, and Public Works Commissioner. In addition, she chairs the Carpenter’s Barn Restoration Committee.
Amy previously worked as the Police Commissioner, Parks and Recreation Commissioner, and sat on the Lake Watershed Council.
Amy is a 1985 graduate of Cazenovia High School and holds a BA in Political Science from Amherst College. Prior to her service on the board, she spent a decade in the financial services industry, working as a Trust Officer for Northern Trust Company in Chicago and as a Portfolio Manager for HSBC Bank in Syracuse.
She previously served on the boards of Cazenovia Children’s House, Cazenovia Ski Club, and the United Community Chest of Cazenovia, Nelson, and Fenner.

Fritz Koennecke, Trustee
Fritz Koennecke was elected to the Village Board in 2013. He currently serves as the Police Commissioner and as the Chair of the Lake Watershed Council.
Fritz grew up in Cazenovia and graduated from Cazenovia High School in 1981. He left Cazenovia to attend the US Air Force Academy and pursue a career in the Air Force. During his military career, Mr. Koennecke served in numerous positions including KC-135 pilot, Gulfstream business jet pilot, Pentagon acquisition officer and flying squadron commander. He served in several campaigns including Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. Mr. Koennecke retired from the Air Force in 2005 as a Lieutenant Colonel and returned to Cazenovia with his wife Elizabeth and kids Fritz and Hannah.
Fritz is currently works for Saab as a Program Manager for Air Traffic Control products. He has previously served as an elder at Cazenovia Presbyterian Church as well as on the board of the Cazenovia Ski Club. More recently, Fritz served six years on the Cazenovia Central School Board of Education including four years as its President.

David Porter, Trustee
David Porter was elected as Village Trustee in June 2010. He resides with his wife Betsy Moore and son, Kevin at 46 Sullivan Street in Cazenovia. Dave grew up in the small town of North Norwich, NY in Chenango County and has lived in the Village of Cazenovia since 1990. He attended and graduated from the State University of New York at Albany, the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and Syracuse University. He is a former US naval officer and served onboard the USS White Plains (AFS-4) from 1977 to 1981.
Dave is a licensed professional engineer in the State of New York and is also a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and a LEED Accredited Professional for building design and construction (LEED AP BD+C). He worked for 20 years at Stearns & Wheler in Cazenovia, NY and is currently as employed at Bergmann Associates in Syracuse, NY as senior mechanical and energy engineer.
He is a member of the Cazenovia Lions Club, has served on the board of directors of the Cazenovia Public Library is currently on the board of directors of the Cazenovia Youth Soccer Association.
With his background as a consulting engineer, Dave hopes to bring an engineering perspective to some of the building and infrastructure challenges that currently face the Village. He has a strong interest in sustainable design and energy conservation and hopes to participate in Village programs that support those two areas of local and national importance.

Maureen Fellows, Trustee
Trustee Maureen Fellows was elected to the Cazenovia Village Board of Trustees in June 2016. She currently serves as the Commissioner of Parks and Recreation and as the Court Liaison. She also serves as a village representative on the CACDA Board and the Cazenovia Town-Village Consolidation Committee. She has lived at 64 Lincklaen Street for 25 years with her husband Jonathan and three children Sarah, Sam and Will all who graduated from Cazenovia Schools.
Maureen grew up in Cooperstown, NY and graduated from Cooperstown Central Schools. She received her bachelor’s degree from Hamilton College, her Master’s degree from Cornell University and her Ph.D. from the Maxwell School as Syracuse University. She has worked for over 30 years at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. She is currently Vice President for Government and External Relations and serves on the Governor’s Wood Products Development Council.
Maureen has been involved in the community through her leadership on the Board of Cazenovia Children’s House, Common Grounds and St. Peter’s Episcopal Church where she served on the Vestry. She has served for many years as the Regional Representative for the Hamilton College Alumni Association. She and her husband belong to the St. Lawrence University Parent’s Committee, Willow Bank Yacht Club, Cazenovia Ski Club and the Cazenovia Golf Club.
